The gaming industry has evolved beyond simple digital experiences. From humble t-shirts and plush toys to extravagant collector’s editions, gaming merchandise has exploded in both variety and price. Even indie games have ventured to this.

To be fair though, indie or not, with how videogames are now and how realistic they are, gamers can’t help but bring some of it to life. And let’s face it, the characters, creatures, and items featured in these games are pretty cool and make awesome game room decors.

However, the merchandise is becoming increasingly expensive. Some fan-made items are still affordable but official merch, especially attributed to big game releases, cost a fortune.

This was recently seen in the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds. While most of us know of only 4 editions (Standard, Deluxe, Premium Deluxe, and Steelbook), there is another one which is currently only sold in Japan, the Ultra Collector’s Edition. This gets the buyer the game, a baby Seikret plushie, Seikret weapon bag style pouch, a steelbook case, and a Seikret folding bike. Yep, you read that right, an actual bike.

This is an insanely awesome edition but also carries an equally insane price tag of €1200. For fans of the franchise though, it isn’t as bad as the Monster Hunter-themed Fender guitar priced at almost €2,200.

Looking at the 4-digit mark for gaming merchandise is a lot for most gamers. But let’s face it, this kind of merch is still embraced by a lot, often even selling out on preorders. But just because it’s available, doesn’t mean it’s the ONLY one you can get. There are thousands of merch in the market which definitely do not share the aforementioned prices.
